Hi, I'm Halcyon.
Just a few years ago, I was navigating the fast-paced world of marketing in Toronto—strategizing, building brands, and pouring myself into the hustle. But God had other plans. In 2022, my family and I left the city behind, moving to Stoney Creek in pursuit of a more centered life.
I stepped away from my 13-year career as a Creative Director, trading in boardrooms for homeschool lessons, and the steady rhythm of city life for the unpredictable beauty of growing things.
The transition was not easy. I went from structuring marketing plans to structuring days around two little girls who needed me in ways I was just beginning to understand. It was disorienting at first, but in the quiet of that shift, I found something new—something unexpected.
About

HowSonder’s Garden Began

So, I started sharing. First with neighbors, then with the community, and before I knew it, my hobby turned into something much bigger—a gift that allowed me to connect with people again.
One of the hardest parts of leaving my career was saying goodbye to the relationships I built, but here I was, meeting new faces, sharing beauty, and being reminded that God's plans are always bigger and better than my own.
The winter of 2024, on a whim (and maybe a little desperation for a creative outlet), I thought, why not flowers?
We had a few spare acres, and I had a curiosity about growing something from the ground up—literally. I started reading, planting, and learning through a lot of trial and error. And to my surprise, things grew. More than I expected. More than I knew what to do with.

"So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." — 1 Corinthians 3:7

Sonder’s Garden is still young, and so am I in this journey.
I don’t know exactly what the future holds, but I am taking steps in faith each day. What I do know is that I want this to be a place where beauty is shared, where people can slow down and enjoy what God has created.
We have plans to open the farm for events, U-picks, and workshops—ways for others to step into the joy of gathering and creating. And as we grow, I hope this space continues to be a source of connection, encouragement, and delight.
Looking Ahead
This garden is a reflection of growth—mine, my daughters', and the beautiful things that bloom when we trust the process.
The Meaning Behind the Name
Sonder’s Garden was first born in name years ago, after my eldest daughter, Sonder. I had dreamed of starting something meaningful, something rooted in love and creativity. Life took unexpected turns, and for a while, the dream lay dormant. But now, with hands in the soil and faith leading the way, I see how much change has taken place—not just around me, but within me.
